As a ‘semi-retired’ travel writer, photographer and editor, Fiona has sidelined her Nikons and notebooks, for paints and pencils – and a more sedentary lifestyle. For the last seven years, she has been concentrating on South African themes such as beaches, kids, marine scenes and those colourful Mexican dancers, while doing commissioned portraits.
Born in Britain, she has traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, and the Americas, living in South Africa, Singapore, Spain, France, the US, and Italy, and now divides the year between Mexico and South Africa where she has exhibited in a number exhibitions. Favorite medium? Probably drawing and coloured pencil, though pastel and watercolour come in as a close second. She is now experimenting with acrylics though admits she has a way to go before they are more than dabbles. She sells her paintings in South Africa, Britain and Mexico.
